Design Philosophy of CABANE A8

我们希望建筑能通过空间形态帮助使用者理解场所的记忆和精神。建筑营造的空间既非纯粹内向的空间，也不是简单迎合景观的形态，我们在尝试营造能链接人和场地的空间介质。

We hope that the architecture can help users understand the memory and spirit of the place through forms and spaces. Our architecture is neither a purely introverted space nor a form that simply caters to the landscape. We are trying to create a spatial medium that can connect people and the site.

作为A8设计中心前期基地，CABANE A8在未来的四到五年会承载A8设计中心教育课程、设计师驻留、沙龙对话及小型展览等不同的设计相关的线下活动。高频率与复合型的使用方式要求平面具有极强的灵活性与可塑性，为未来预留弹性。同时，依然希望可以在一定程度通过这个空间表达A8设计中心对设计的先锋态度和对年轻设计师群体的关注。

As the early-stage base of the A8 Design Center, CABANE A8 will host various design-related activities such as education programs, designer residency, salons and small exhibitions in the next four to five years. Highly-frequent and multifunctional usage requires the floor plan to have great flexibility and reserve plasticity for the future. At the same time, it is hoped that this space can to some extent express the avant-garde attitude of A8 Design Center towards design and its concern for emergent designers.

CABANE A8所在的麓客岛位于麓湖生态城的湖心区域，有着轻松和欢快的场地特征。麓客岛作为运动基地和亲子度假主题乐园，被誉为“成都网红小岛”，每年吸引超过40万人到访；同时它也期望联合A8设计中心以“设计和艺术”为主题进行全面升级，通过具有设计性、艺术性、互动性、实用性的建筑、景观、装置作品等的落地，形成设计相关的内容和事件——CABANE A8以及其所承载的使命可以被看作这一系列实践的开端。

CABANE A8 is located on the LUXES’ Island, which is at the heart of LUXELAKES Eco-City with a relaxed and cheerful site feature. As a sports base and parents-child resort theme park, it is known as the “Chengdu Influencer Island” and attracts more than 400,000 visitors every year. At the same time, in conjunction with the A8 Design Center, it looks forward to a comprehensive upgrade with the theme of "Design and Art". A series of architectures, landscapes and installations that are design-sensitive, artistic, interactive and functional are constructed to produce design related contents and events—CABANE A8 and its mission can be regarded as the beginning of such a practice.

室外的形态就是这个空间复合的结果，斜向的屋面让尺度变得更加宜人，隐隐有着某种动势，形成一种和环境对话的张力。这种对话还将延续在时间上。我们选择了具有通透性的扩张金属网作为外层立面的材料，让人可以从外面读到内部空间和外形的差异。空隙和金属反光的关系又让光参与到建筑的变化中来：阳光下如实体一般，在外界暗下来的时候又如网纱一般透明。我们希望这种时间带给设计的变化可以带给观察者持续的新鲜感，进而产生进一步关注到空间内进行的与设计相关的各种活动与内容的好奇心。

The architectural form is the result of mixed spaces. The pitched roof makes the scale more pleasant and has a certain momentum, forming a tension of dialogue with the environment that lasts over time. We choose the expanded metal mesh with permeability as the material on the facade, so that people can tell the difference between its internal space and architectural form from the outside. The gap between the facade and the core structure and the metal reflection allows the light to play in the “face-changing” of the architecture: under the sun, it is solid, while when the outside world gets dark, it is as transparent as a mesh. It is hoped that such changes caused by time can bring continuous freshness to the observer, and make them curious about the various design-related activities and contents carried out in the space.

TEKTONN ARCHITECTS

天仝建筑成立于法国巴黎，二〇一七年于中国成都设常驻事务所。

The architects’ office found in Paris and our permanent office in Chengdu is created from 2017.

天仝源于希腊文【 建构 | tektōn 】的音译。其汉语表达由“天”、“人”和“工”三个汉字组成，代表其设计哲学：理想的建筑源于场所，是连结场所空间信息、时间记忆和建造条件的媒介。设计反映空间与场所之间的二元关系 ：场所性定制建筑，而独创的空间关系触发创新的生活方式和人文活动。

TEKTONN is composed by three Chinese words : Tīan - the heaven, Rén - the human and Gōng - the Craftsmanship, on which our design begins. We consider architecture as interventions : the catalyst to a specific site, helping generation of creative activities and blooming culture. Architecture is a media connecting the spatial, historical and constructive conditions.

尊重场所现状，让天仝善于解决复杂的建筑、城市问题。怀揣无条件的好奇心和从不界定边界的信念，天仝建筑总是从错综复杂的现状条件中发现内在联系和场地逻辑，研究创新形态对场所的催化，评估空间尺度对周边环境的影响。天仝研究材料和工法，跟踪建造过程，寻访使用反馈，我们以对细节的极致追求为己任，将惊喜创意变为可建造的设计。

With unconditional curiosity and believe never defining boundaries, our work starts with internal relationships which lead finally to the site logic, by basing analysis on a comprehensive synthesis of reality. We experiment innovative architecture by giving meaning to shapes and evaluating precisely scales in its environments. We learn from materials and processes of craft, we are on-site architects and obsessed by details. We strive to discover how the elements are composed together as we struggle to turn the surprising ideas into buildable design.

天仝建筑由一群深信当代建筑无穷可能性的建筑师和设计师组成。拥有国际化的专业精神，我们一直在完善倾听和观察的技巧，努力寻找更高视角。天仝屡获欧洲设计大奖，其作品多次为知名建筑媒体所载。天仝将秉承其设计初心，持续为区域和全球提供高质素的设计和独特创见。
