    Description

From the beginning of life signs 100,000 years ago to the history of human development in the 21st century where capital and technology are intertwined. One hundred thousand years ago, there were at least six races on the earth. Why are we only left today? We used to be just an unremarkable ethnic group in a corner of Africa, having the same impact on the ecology of the planet as fireflies, orangutans or jellyfish. Why can we climb to the top of the biological chain and eventually become the master of the earth? From the cognitive revolution, the agricultural revolution to the scientific revolution, do we really understand ourselves? Are we happier? Do we know where and why money and religion came from? Why did the empires created by mankind decline and rise one by one? Why does almost every society on earth have the notion that men are superior to women? Why has monotheism become the most widely accepted religion? How did science and capitalism become the most important tenets of modern society? Clarify the major context that affects human development? Clarify the major context that affects human development, and explore the root causes of human culture, religion, law, state, and credit. This is a magnificent brief history of mankind, with more knowledge and writing in lowercase, allowing mankind to re-examine themselves.

Yuval Noah Harari uses a near-neutral attitude to study the development of human beings and its impact. Neutral to the point where some views are a bit anti-civilization in my opinion. This book is not a traditional historical study. Its greatest value is to provide Cognition from different perspectives of history, especially the many viewpoints in the first three chapters, is very exciting.

    Description

Why do we remember the past, not the future? What does it mean to "pass" time? Do we exist within time, or does time exist within us? Carlo Rover uses poetic words to invite us to think about this ancient problem—the nature of time. In our intuition, time is uniform throughout the universe, flowing steadily from the past to the future, which can be measured by clocks. But Rovelli reveals to us a strange universe, where the characteristics of time collapse one by one, and at the most basic level, time disappears. He told us that our perception of the passage of time depends on our perspective...

This is an excellent popular science book with a strong sense of enthusiasm. It tells the main characteristics of time in a popular way and uses this as a clue to explain the understanding of related physical and philosophical issues. It is a way of prose and fiction. To sort out the whole world. Many of the perspectives of time in the book are full of detached interest from everyday life.

    Description

Some very important and difficult ideas in contemporary physics are often difficult for the public to understand because they are difficult to explain in a simple and vivid way. The author of this book is not afraid of hardships, and uses a very vivid way to show readers one of the frontiers of modern physics-hyperspace theory. The 15 chapters of the book are divided into 4 chapters, which respectively describe the history of hyperspace research. Hyperspace theory leads to the possibility of Einstein’s dream of "Holy Grail of Physics" unified field theory, and explores the possibility of hyperspace through time and space. , And when can we actually use the potential power of hyperspace theory. There is no precedent before this book to describe this theory in such a detailed and popular way.

This book sorts out the 100 years of our understanding of the truth about the world from Riemannian geometry to string theory. Kalai Michio uses lively and vivid words to describe his thoughts on high-dimensional space, parallel universes and other physical concepts, although some parts are still It's relatively difficult to understand, but I still sigh "It turns out that the world is like this" from time to time while reading.

    Description

"Tadao Ando's losing streak in a row" is another influential work compiled by Tadao Ando following the book "Tadao Ando on Architecture" based on the content of his lectures in the Department of Architecture of the University of Tokyo. In this book, Ando reviewed his work over the past years, described the challenges and struggles in the face of difficulties. In the face of the "failures" that challenged many architectural competitions, Ando did not compromise to the difficulties, and constantly  challenge the construction with his extraordinary courage and beliefs. The book reflects Ando's persistent pursuit of architectural design work and the spirit of his perseverance. This is an inspiring and rare good book for young people; especially for young architects and architecture students, it has important reference significance.

    Reason for Recommendation

As the title of the book says, this book mentions many cases of Tadao Ando’s failures, and even some of the plans are to make a serious proposal without any commission or competition organization, and then go to the relevant personnel to negotiate. For me who is a beginner in architecture Inspired, "how to make a design complete" and "what else can be done besides these" began to be my thinking. Lien Chan's professional attitude of losing streak but still struggling to throw every punch is even more encouraging.

    Description

Frei Otto's "Occupation and Connection: Reflections on the Realm and Scope of Human Settlements" The development of cities, land, and road systems is fickle and difficult to plan. Although new technologies and flexible planning models mean that relevant spontaneous design processes can be found in the history of urban development, factors such as ownership disputes, land and building regulations, planning decisions, and administrative interventions have made it difficult for the settlement structure to keep up with these changes. pace of. At the same time, it is becoming increasingly difficult to rationally and fully utilize the earth's surface in an ecological manner.

    Reason for Recommendation

Otto first summarized the complex operating mechanism of human gatherings to form settlements, and then used simulation experiments and mathematical analysis to conduct simulation studies. The most critical part is how he rationally simplified the complex model in the middle, and made the simplified The model has a strong operability, Otto gave a very enlightening answer.

    Description

Through a large number of Sakamoto's works, dialogues and articles, this book shows meticulous thinking on many topics including formal meaning. Its overall style is like Sakamoto's architectural works, flat, gentle, and with a little surprise-like composition. What is given to people is the simplicity that is far from popular. The book deliberately chose "dialogue" rather than "article"-style preaching, the purpose is to allow readers to more intuitively listen to Sakamoto's "voices" by means of heartfelt conversation. In the layout, more choices are "drawings" to convey the information of the architectural language itself. This is a newly created Sakamoto Kazusei album for Chinese readers. The number of drawings is unprecedented, and the theoretical expressions are presented in the dialogue.

    Reason for Recommendation

Sakamoto's most common elements in the design will have a very in-depth thinking from sociology and behavior. This in-depth thinking will eventually return to some serene and tranquil works and turn them into everyday life. The content of the book is not as abstract and obscure as the title and beginning of the book, and it is easy to get the joy of deep thinking under the guidance of the text.
